Dr. Bonnie Meszaros will lead a discussion on why teaching economics in elementary school is important and the research related to Econ For Kids.
Bonnie Meszaros is assistant professor of economics and associate director of the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware. She holds a BA in history from Ohio Wesleyan University and a MA in social studies education and a PhD in curriculum from the University of Delaware. She is a past president of the National Association of Economic Educators and recipient of its Bessie B. Moore Service Award, John C. Schramm Leadership Award, Patricia Elder International Award, and James B. O’Neill Multiplier Award. She was project director and served on the writing committee for the Voluntary National Content Standards in Economics, was a member of the writing team for the National Standards for Financial Literacy, and has authored and co-authored numerous economic and personal finance curricula, journal articles and book chapters.
